Is any Rangasthalam? Here's A Proof

Ever since director Sukumar has come up with the title "Rangasthalam 1985", many people including mega fans are eagerly waiting to find out what is the logic behind selecting this title. And then there are various rumors that have done rounds about it.
One of the most popular rumors has that Ram Charan will be seen as a drama-artist in the movie in a story set in 1985. As the name 'Rangasthalam' aptly indicates the Telugu meaning of 'stage', many felt this is indeed true. But it looks like all these talks are just a figment of the imagination.



Very clearly, some of the pictures leaked straight from the 5 crores rupees worth set erected for Rangasthalam on the outskirts of Hyderabad are revealing the truth behind the title. It's the name of a village set in Godavari region and the entire story happens there. Known as master craftsmen, Sukumar not only got gold spot bottles and soda making devices for the film to bring the pure vintage look, he also got the name boards of village designed as in olden days.



For now, a major part of shooting was wrapped in this location while other scenes involving Samantha will be shot once she returns from her honeymoon in London, UK. At the same time, Charan has also flown to Manali for a quick vacation before rejoining the sets.

'Rangasthalam' box office collections day 8: Ram Charan and Samantha starrer makes an impressive collection even in Tamil Nadu

Sukumar’s Ram Charan and Samantha starrer ‘ Rangasthalam’ is on an upward slope, beating the lifetime record of even ‘Sarrainodu’, ‘Jai Lava Kusa’ and ‘Attarintiki Daaredi’.

The film has made superb collections at the box office in eight days, becoming the seventh highest grossing Telugu film. The film has reportedly collected over Rs 134 Cr gross at the worldwide box office, with a strong word of mouth helping it fare well over the weekend. Monday is said to have witnessed a 50 percent drop in its collection, seeing as how it’s a working day.

‘Rangasthalam’ is soon expected to beat the records of ‘Janatha Garage’ and ‘Srimanthudu’ too and emerge fifth soon. The film is not just a hit in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it has also earned the status by the end of its first week in Tamil Nadu. While the Kollywood strike is said to have helped move things along, a strong word of mouth is also expected to have helped the film here. Reportedly, the film has crossed Rs 2.35 Cr in its first weekend there.

Charam hit

Rangasthalam is not just a hit, it’s a blockbuster worldwide: Producers.

Even after a whole week, Rangasthalam is still running to packed theatres across AP and Telangana and is being hailed as the most successful film in Tollywood after Baahubali. And the Mythri Movie Makers’ founders — Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili and CV Mohan — are on cloud nine. “When Sukumar narrated the story we knew then itself that the film would become a huge hit,” beams Ravi. “While we all knew that it was a great story, midway through the shoot we realised what we had in our hands was magical content,” adds Naveen. CV Mohan nods in agreement saying, “While we never really worried about the film’s success, we never expected to receive so much love from the audience. It’s overwhelming.” The success of the film was a result of great team work says the trio. “Not just us, the director, actors, technicians, everyone completely believed in the film and gave it our best. Music director Devi Sri Prasad worked on the re-recording of the one minute teaser for two whole days. Lyricist Chandrabose too put in his blood and soul. Fight masters Ram-Lakshman too took care to get all the minute details right, which
is why the stunts look so realistic. This is hands down Ram Charan’s best performance till date and Sukku’s best story. Even the dialogues of the film are so beautiful and memorable. Everyone put in their heart and soul into the film and created magic onscreen,” explains Ravi, adding, “No one will believe that the film had 52 minutes of CGI (computer generated imagery). The CG team has done such a good job of it that it all looks so seamless.”
The music made the film all the more memorable says Mohan: “When we were shooting for Rangamma Mangamma song in Rajahmundry itself I told Charan garu that it will be a chartbuster. When he asked why, I told him it’s because the lines are unforgettable. All the songs in the film struck a chord with the audience, Yentha Sakkagunnave was the crowd favourite.”
For Mythri Movie Makers this is the third consecutive hit for their production house after Srimanthudu and Janatha Garage. “Rangasthalam is not just a hit, it’s a blockbuster worldwide,” gushes Mohan. “We can’t express in words how proud and happy that makes us. We’re very thankful to everyone involved in the project,” adds Ravi. “Doing three huge films with three big stars is not easy and for all three of them to become blockbusters is a real rare occurrence,” beams Naveen. The producers say they will strive hard to live up to the standards they have set for themselves. “We have more responsibility on our shoulders now that the public expectations from our banner have increased manifold. We will strive to choose only the best,” says Mohan.
